The EMT template is designed for complying with requirements arising from the MiFID II regulation. Product Manufacturers need to provide information regarding the target market for each investment product, as well as costs and charges. This information is used by banks, distributors and platforms for deciding which investor is suitable to buy into each product and, between others, for calculating the costs incurred to the investors.

The EFT template is connected to target market requirements from the MiFID II regulation. The template is to be used by banks, distributors and platforms selling third party products for reporting whether any of the products have been sold outside the target market (so called “negative” target market).

The MiFID II framework includes provisions related to marketing communications, for example, MiFID II requires marketing communications to be clearly identifiable as such. In addition, the MIFID II Delegated Regulation clarifies that information contained in marketing communications needs to be consistent with any information the firm provides to clients in the course of carrying on investment and ancillary services.
